As football season starts there are a variety of different types of fantasy games available. There is something for everyone from the novice to the severly addicted.
Nothing funny today i was just going to lay out the different games that exist:
Traditional: This is what most people generally refer to when they invite you to play fantasy football. Each individual "owner" takes control of a team and picks real NFL players for "their" team. As the players do well (or not so well) on Sunday their fantasy team gets points.
Salary Cap: This is similar to the traditional but can take more/less work as you want. No one else in the league is effected by your activity or inactivity. In this format you have a certain amount of fake money. You can spend your fake money to build a roster as you see fit. You can spend it all on P. Manning or spread it out evenly for adequate but not great players. I find this game has a lot of strategy to it but is much less well known.
Survival: A fun game but can be very short. You don't put any time into this game. Each week you choose one team as your team that will win that week. If they win, you live for another week. If they don't you are out of the game. The only strategy is to keep teams like the Colts from being used until later in the season (you can only use each team once). Longest i've lived in this game is until week 9 or 10.
Pick 'em: This is a game with a lot of variation. At it's core you pick who you think will win each game of the NFL season (a la Las Vegas). You can add in elements of using point spreads and/or confidence points.
These are the main fantasy games available with others available. If anyone has other favorites they know let me know.
